Tailor Made Holidays to Sri Lanka

Known to the Arabs as Serendib; Serendipity means the ability to make pleasant and unexpected discoveries by accident. This quality for which Sri Lanka is famed has to be experienced individually and no visit to Sri Lanka is complete without an Individual Chauffeur Driven tour around the island.

Self-driving can be undertaken, but such skill and attention will be required by the driver to familiarise with the local driving "customs" that travelling becomes a stressful experience.   Pedestrians, bullock carts, and livestock all appear to have the right of way!

Seasons: Southwest Monsoon begins May/June bringing onshore wind and rough seas.

Lofty mountains reaching 2500 metres give way to rolling tea plantations, sculptured rice paddies, ravines, rivers, jungle clad gorges and cascading waterfalls. In the cool highlands of Nuwara Eliya you will encounter English lanes and gabled cottages.

Here for some could be the highlight of your journey where travellers might stay as guests on a Tea Plantation. An individual tour should also include "The Cultural Triangle" of Anuradhapura, Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa which includes giant Stupas, colossal stone Buddhas and the famous rock fortress.

In the ancient former capital city of Kandy, we recommend a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth; the Royal Botanical Gardens, browse amongst handicrafts and jewels, or maybe even help bath a baby elephant?

In the National Parks the leopard reigns supreme, complemented by bears, buffaloes, wild boar and of course the elephants. A visit to one of the smaller wildlife sanctuaries should be included in any Sri Lanka itinerary.

There are also up to 400 species of birds including flamingos, pelicans, parakeets, storks, and the peacock which is the national emblem. Many of the best wildlife sanctuaries only admit individuals and a permit or special permission can be arranged.

Along the west and south west shores one can choose to relax at one of the many beach resorts.

On your travels don't forget to try the delicious coconut based Sri Lanka Rice & Curry!
