Australia: Barossa Valley & The Murray River

DAY 01: Adelaide to Barossa Valley (100km)Depart Adelaide northwards on Port Wakefield Road (Route 1) and then take the Main North Road (Route 20) to the town of Gawler. From this point take the Barossa Valley Highway through Sandy Creek and Lyndoch to Tanunda, the cultural heart of Barossa. After lunch and a tour of the wineries head to Bethany Road. Overnight: Lanzerac Country Estate.
DAY 02: Barossa Valley to Murray River (75km)From Tanunda head north to Nuriootpa to join the Stuart Highway eastwards to Blanchetown. Arrive at Portee Station in time for a picnic or BBQ lunch and afternoon experiencing outback station life beside Moorundie Creek.Overnight: Portee Station.
DAY 03: Murray River to Adelaide (230km)Head south from Blanchetown to Walker Flat and then west to Mount Pleasant to enjoy the scenery of the Torrens River Valley. From Mount Pleasant proceed south to Woodside and the Onkaparinga River valley before making the South Eastern Freeway to return north-west into Adelaide.The cost per person shall include 3 days self-drive medium car, CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) and unlimited mileage, plus two nights twin sharing accommodation. The itinerary can of course be extended at any point to include additional accommodation and car rental. Rates for third person sharing car but with own room, or four persons sharing a larger car and two rooms are also available. |
