Day 1 - Hanoi to Son La

Day 2 - Son La to Dien Bien Phu

Travel by vehicle from Son La to Dien Bien Phu .  Stop at Tuan Giao , a remote town at the junction of Highway 42 to Dien Bien Phu and Highway 6A to Lai Chau.  Overnight at Dien Bien Phu

Day 3 - Dien Bien Phu to Phong Tho

Sightseeing at Dien Bien Phu , the site of the battle which defeated the French and ended their colonial control of Indochina .  It is one of the most remote parts of Vietnam in the Muong Thanh Valley and is surrounded by steep heavily forested hills .  Visit DBP Musuem , Castries Bunker and Minorities .  Proceed to Phong Tho for overnight

Day 4 - Phong Tho to Sapa

Enjoy a short trek around Phong Tho .  Travel be vehicle to Sapa passing Tram Son Pass .  Overnight in Sapa

Day 5 - Sa Pa to a local village

Depart Sa Pa mid morning and begin trekking on small paths .  Descend deep into a valley and up again through forested hills until reaching the villages of Cat Cat , Y Linh Ho and Lao Chai .  Overnight in a local village

 

Day 6 - Local Village to Sa Pa

In the morning hike up the mountain to the Red Dazo village of Giang Ta Chai , passing a cascading waterfall .  The Red Dazo continue to wear their traditional colourfully embroidered clothing and red headscarves . Continue along the rice fields , crossing the Muong Hoa river and trek to the village of Supan to meet your jeep .  Return to Sa Pa for overnight

Day 7 - Sa Pa

Return by car or train to Hanoi
