Bahrain & Qatar
|
BahrainThe smallest of the Gulf states, is an archipelago of 33 islands that enjoys a rich history and contrasting modern attractions. Manama, the capital, is a melting pot of traditional souks complimented by the sophistication of a modern skyline. First Class international hotels offer facilities such as night clubs, swimming pools, ethnic and cosmopolitan restaurants, health clubs, and sports facilities. From the Gulf waters come the famous Bahrain Pearls, and for scuba divers there are spectacular wrecks and coral reefs. As a gateway to the Indian sub-continent and Far East, Bahrain is an excellent Stop-Over en-route. QatarOccupying a peninsular in the western Gulf, Qatar is more conservative than its neighbours where travellers can witness ancient traditions from the comfort of modern hotels. Doha, the capital, used to be a quiet fishing village, but today is a thriving commercial centre comprising the souk area, modern shops, imposing public buildings and mosques, parks and gardens. Al-Khor is a popular coastal resort boasting an old harbour, a fine museum and impressive beaches. |
