After a couple of days exploring the tombs, fortress ruins, and temples of Seoul and a visit to the Panmunjon Check Point where the armistice was signed, we suggest an Individual Tour of the Highlights of Korea to include the natural wonders surrounding Mount Soraksan, the ancient historic city of Kyongju, and the volcanic island of Cheju-do.

The climate is smaller to northern Europe with hot summers and some snow in winter.  South Korea is served by a network of domestic flights and an excellent rail network making internal travel fast and efficient.

From Korea we suggest a combination with South East Asia to formulate an interesting personal travel itinerary.

The Best Of Korea - Highlights Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Seoul and transfer to your hotel for 3 nights

Day 02: Seoul highlights- morning sightseeing of Seoul, Korea’s capital city. Visit Kyongbok Palace with its magnificient gates and graceful architecture dating from the Yi dynasty, Folklore Museum, and Eastgate Market.

Day 03: Full day visit to Panmunjom - check point drive 60 km north of Seoul to Panmunjom, a small farming village where the armistice was signed. Visit the Freedom Bridge where the Korean war prisoners walked to freedom.

OPTIONAL SIDE TRIP TO MT-SORAKSON

Day 04: Seoul to Kyongju
Board the motorcoach for a pleasant 6 hour trip through the picturesque countryside to the ancient capital of the Shilla dynasty. The Journey will take you pass the fertile farmland of Korea, glistening brooks, ginseng farms, apple plantations and lovely rice paddies

Day 05: Kyongju is one of the ten ancient historic city sites of the world. Temples with weathered stone pagodas, royal tombs, buddhist relics, fortress ruins are scattered throughout the countryside surrounding this ancient city. A visit is made to the 8th century Sokuram Grotto - home of the serene stone Buddha and Bulkuksa Temple. After lunch, visit Kyongju Museum, Chomsongdae - world’s oldest astronomical observatory and Tumuli Park.

Day 06: Kyongju - Cheju

Travel by motorcoach to Pusan for flight to Cheju - the island of god. Visit Yongduam,the basalt head of drag- I on with an open mouth rising 10 metres above coastal waters, Samsonghyol shrine and the Cheju folklore museum.

Day 07: full day circle island tour of Cheju-do. Island life is unique and scenery is spectacular. With its contrasting cultures, Cheju is the vacationers’ Paradise with sub-tropical vegetation , waterfalls, quaint thatched roof houses, fanciful lava and rock formations and lovely beaches.

Day 08: Morning transfer to the airport for flight to Seoul to connect with departure flight.
