Moluccas The Spice Islands ItineraryDay 01: Arrive at Ambon airport and transfer to your hotel. After lunch drive along the coast to Waai, famous for the Cave Sweetwater River following local beliefs that the metre long eels expecting to be fed are ancestral spirits! Afterwards experience the traditional bamboo dance. Day 02: Full day exploring this city to see weaving, the Siwa Museum of ancient Ambonese culture and Sago Palm. Day 03: Early morning transfer to the harbour to sail across to Saparua Island of spices. Visit the Stairs Village and famous Dutch Church en-route to Waihenahai situated along a white sandy beach lapped by exquisite turquoise waters. Visit the Dutch Fort Duurstede and the pottery village of Ouw. Overnight at a comfortable hotel in Saparua Town. Day 04: Early afternoon transfer by boat
back to Ambon and the airport for onwards flight Irian Jaya Overland Tour ItineraryDay 01: Arrive at Sentani airport, Jayapura and transfer to your hotel. Evening at local Indonesian speciality restaurant. Day 02: Early morning flight by small aircraft to Wamena, a village in the Baliem River Valley. In this valley live around 100,000 primitive Dani tribesmen. A visit is made to the market and then onward through jungle scenery to Sumpaima and finally to the Lauk Inn, a christian mission in Jiwika for overnight Day 03: After breakfast join a 2 hour trek up to Mount Mill to visit a traditional Dani salt mine. On the trek downhill visit the Kontila Cave before returning to Wamena for overnight in a hotel. Day 04: Morning departure by small aircraft back to jayapura for a tour of the General McArthur Memorial, a crocodile farm and the local Hamadi market. Afternoon at leisure. Day 05: Transfer to the airport for onward flight. |
