North East Thailand I-San Itinerary

Day 01: Bangkok / Ayuthya / Phimai / Korat
Early morning depart Bangkok by minibus north to the ruins of Ayuthya, an ancient capital of  Thailand.  Continue to Korat (Nakorn Ratchasima) with lunch en-route, and upon arrival proceed to the ancient city of Phimai to visit Prasat Hin Phimai, the largest sandstone sanctuary in Thailand which has been renovated and restored as a National Historic Park.  Dinner and overnight at the Royal Princess Korat Hotel or similar.

Day 02: Phanom Rung and Khao Yai National Park
A full day excursion to Prasat Phanom Rung in Bun Ram Province and in the afternoon Khao Yai  National Park, Thailand’s oldest Park rich in flora & fauna.   Overnight in Korat at the Royal  Princess or similar.

Day 03: Korat / Khon Kaen
After breakfast proceed to Khon Kaen for lunch and overnight at Hotel Sofitel Raja Khon Kaen or  similar.  In the afternoon tour around the area visiting the University, the sacred Phra That Kham Kaen, and Uboirat Dam as well as some of the famous tie-dyed silk factories.

Day 04: Khon Kaen I Udon Thani / Nong Khai
After breakfast depart for Udon Thani visiting the village of Na Kha en-route wherethe famous  "Khit" cloth is woven. Continue the short distance to Ban Chiang an area of over 100 acres dating back some 5600 years and is probably one of the earliest human settlements in the world.  From Ban Chiang return to Udon Thani and then onwards to Nong Khai for overnight at  the Nong Khai Grand Thani Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 05: Nong Khai / Laos Border / Bangkok
After breakfast proceed to the Mekong River to see the Thai-Lai Friendship Bridge financed by  the Australians to link Thailand and Laos. (It is possible to extend your tour to visit Vientiane the capital of Laos ).   Return to your hotel for lunch and transfer to Udon Thani for Thai Airways flight to Bangkok or onwards.
