Phuket To Koh Samui - 3 days/2 nights or v.v.

Depart Phuket north across the causeway onto the mainland

to join Route 4 towards Phang Nga Bay. Optional stop at Tha Dan for a boat trip out into Phang Nga Bay to visit the mangroves, a muslim fishing village and the famous James Bond Island. Proceed by the more scenic Route H4 to Krabi for overnight at Centara Grand Beach Resort and Villas or one of the beach resorts in the Marine National Park.

Day 02: Optional explore the Marine National Park and Su San Hoi Shell Cemetery before heading across the isthmus via Khao Luang National Park to Nakhon Sri Thammarat on the east coast for overnight at the Twin Lotus Hotel.

Day 03: Head north up the coastal route 401 through Sichon and the limestone formations around Khanom before arriving at the Ferry Terminal near Don Sak for the ferry across to Koh Samui. Drop off car at airport or selected beach resort. (Optional proceed via Surat Thani and Khao Sok to return to Phuket)

 

Chiang Mai - Golden Triangle - Chiang Rai 3 days/2 nights

Day 01: Depart Chang Mai north along Route 107 past Mae Rim to Chiang Dao Elephant Camp and Chiang Dao Hill Resort in the mountains. Continue north through Fang and onwards to the town of Thaton on the banks of the Mae Kok River for overnight at Thaton River View Hotel.

Day 02: Depart Thaton climbing through Yunnanese Chinese Villages to Doi Mae Salong, the former home of the Chinese Kuomintang. Continue through Ban Samakhi Kao and onwards alongside the Myanmar Border to Mae Sai where the bridge crosses into Myanmar. From Mae Sal take Route 1290 east to the Golden Triangle for overnight at the Imperial Golden Triangle Resort (or upgrade to Anantara Resort & Spa Golden Triangle ).

Day 03: In the morning drive alongside the Mae Khong River to the old walled city of Chiang Saen where there are a number of ancient temples, before proceeding to Chiang Rai. Drop off car at the airport or optional overnight at the Rimkok Resort.

Chiang Mai - Sukothai - Chiang Mai 5 days/4 nights

Day 01: Depart Chiang Mai south down Route 11 to the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre and onwards to the historical city of Lampang for overnight at the Wiengthong Hotel. Afternoon visit Wat Phrathat Lampang Luang and many interesting buildings.

Day 02: From Lampang Route 11 follows the Yom River Valley south to the famous historic Khmer town of Si Satchanalai. After the Si Satchanalal Historical Park continue on to Sukhothai for overnight at the Pailyn Hotel.

Day 03: In the morning visit the Sukhothai Historical Park before heading along Route 12 to the town of Tak located on the banks of the Ping River. From Tak continue west passing by various Hilltribes to the border town of Mae Sot for overnight at the Central Mae Sot Hill Resort.

Day 04: From Mae Sot follow the Moei River Valley to Ban Tha Song Yang before climbing over into the Yuam River Valley and to the small Karen town of Mae Sariang for overnight in a bungalow at Mit A Ree Guest House.

Day 05: From Mae Sariang pass through Karen & Hmong Hilliribe Villages along the foot of Mount Doi Inthanon following the Ping River back into Chiang Mal. Drop off car. (Optional return to Chiang Mai with overnight en-route at the Imperial Mae Hong Son).
