Rice Terraces and Ethnic Tribes of China
An off the beaten track experience that will take you on a trek through a dramatic landscape of terraced rice fields and learn about the traditions and customs of China’s ethnic groups, the Miao, Dong and Yao villages. There are many opportunities to go on a bamboo raft on the Yulong River, trek or take a bicycle across the spectacular landscape, join a cookery class and interact with the ethnic tribes.

Day 1: Guilin Airport to Yangshuo
You will be met on arrival for a private transfer to Yangshuo.

Day 2: Yangshuo to Longji
Morning, enjoy a 2-hour tranquil bamboo rafting excursion on the Yulong River. Relax or take a bicycle ride through the karst countryside, through rice terraces and water buffalos,
After lunch, drive to Longji, one of the most beautiful rice terraces in Guangxi. Longji is home to various small villages typical to the Dong, Miao, Yao, and the Zhuang minorities.

Day 3: Longji Rice Terraces trek
.An easy trek today to the two villages of Zhongliu and Tiantouzhai. The hike will take up to 4 hours,

Day 4: Longji to Zhaoxing
Your ethnic villages tour continues to Zhaoxing, which is one of the best-preserved Dong villages in this area. You will visit smaller villages on the way and have a walkabout in the villages of Heli and Tang An along the way.

Day 5: Zhaoxing to Jiapang
Visit the Jiapang Rice terraces and Basha village, inhabited by the Miao ethnic group – famous for its festivals and traditional dresses.

Zhaoxing – Jiapang (approx. 150km): 4h
Day 6: Jiapang to Rongjiang
Visit Jiaqu (Miao) village before departing for Rongjiang.
Overnight in Rongjiang.
Distance and journey times:
Jiapang – Rongjiang (approx. 120km): 3h30
Day 7: Rongjiang to Kaili
Drive to Kaili. You will visit the Qiaotu Shiu Village, Wuji Village (Miao people) known for its batik technique, Datang (Miao) Village, and Langde, before arriving in Kaili.
Overnight in Kaili
Distance and journey times:
Rongjiang – Kaili (approx. 150km): 2h30 (not counting stops)
Day 8: Kaili to Guiyang Airport for departure
